LASER HAIR REMOVAL IN THE JERSEY SHORE
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular methods for permanent body hair reduction that is virtually painless. Alma Lasers™ are one of the most advanced lasers on the market for safely and effectively eliminating unwanted body hair for men and women. Laser hair removal eliminates the need for daily shaving, painful plucking and expensive waxing to give you smooth and beautifully bare skin.
HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses laser light - an intense, pulsating beam of light - to remove unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by passing a light beam through the skin and targeting dark pigment, called melanin, in hair. When the light beam hits the hair follicle (where hair growth originates), the intense heat destroys the hair follicle instantly.
Common treatment locations include chest, back, legs, armpits, upper lip, chin, cheeks and bikini line. However, it is possible to treat unwanted hair in almost any area of the body.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT
Several treatments will be needed to provide the most effective results. During your treatment, which varies in length from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated, you will be asked to wear goggles to prevent accidental exposure of your eyes to laser light.
When the laser is activated, you may feel a slight stinging sensation. Most patients do not feel pain during the treatment, and describe the stinging sensation as very mild. Oftentimes a topical local anesthetic is applied before the procedure to reduce discomfort. The procedure causes a slight charring of stubble. You may notice a strong odor of singed hair, which is normal.
After laser hair removal, no medications or bandages are necessary. You may notice some redness and minor swelling for the first few hours. Also, stinging may occur for the first 24 to 48 hours. Some people experience a slight drying of the skin which can be treated with moisturizers.
