Q: I am interested in having Botox for facial flushing/blushing. I know a few people that have had it done with outstanding results. It is very important that it is done by someone that is familiar with this because if the Botox is injected into the muscle serious problems can arise.

A: Facial flushing is a not so uncommon problem for many fair skinned individuals.. Up till now I have treated this problem with the pulse dye laser that is specific for red color and red vessels. The treatment of facial flushing with Botox seems to be a new and exciting treatment although I believe it will need to be repeated at least twice per year. I will obtain the specifics at the next Botox meeting.

Plastic surgery can be daunting. Television has provided the public with a glimpse of what a person goes through before and after their procedures. Most people who have had work done agree that it was worth it. Dr. Lombardi’s goal is to provide a safe, nurturing confidential environment where patients are free to ask questions and are well cared for. The most important thing a patient can do is go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has an established practice with years of experience like Dr. Lombardi. We always encourage questions.

Some questions a perspective patient should ask are:

What type of anesthesia will you be using and do you have a board certified anesthesiologist.

How many years have you been in practice?

What is my recovery time?

Do you have your own facility where procedures are performed?

How many of these procedures have you personally performed?

What are the common complications?
