NJ Plastic Surgeon Introduces Botox® Alternative, Dysport®

A new injectible form of botulinum is now available. NJ Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Anthony Lombardi of The Lombardi Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center, is now offering patients an alternative to Botox—Dysport®.
Like Botox Cosmetic, Dysport® is an injectable form of botulinum toxin Type A.
Dr. Lombardi injects small amounts of the toxin into specific wrinkle-causing muscles, paralyzing them and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
According to Dr. Lombardi, Dysport is said to have certain advantages over Botox. “Dysport can take effect faster in patients than Botox, which can take up to 1 week,” explains Dr. Lombardi. “Dysport can take effect within 2 days, so this is the perfect last minute beauty fix before a big event or party.” Dysport may also last a few months longer than Botox.
Dysport is priced below Botox, however, Dysport typically requires 2.5 times the dosage of Botox to get the same effect, and therefore costs are roughly equivalent. Dr. Lombardi recommends patients check with their personal plastic surgeon regarding prices and availability of Dysport in their area.
